In the Diocese of Aberdeen and Orkney there are four branches of the M.U., and ours is the largest with over forty members. Our meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 1-45pm (when we usually have a speaker), and also on the third Saturday at 11-0am for the “The Mothers’ Union Hour” (a time of prayer, discussion and coffee). We are usually in Saint Mary’s Hall, Ellon but occasionally run special services in church for groups like Ellon’s Resource Centre and residents from local sheltered housing units. During the August break we sometimes have an outing, and this year enjoyed visiting the home and gardens of one of our parishioners. Our branch committee oversees the running of Parent and Toddler Groups which meet in Saint Mary’s Hall on Friday mornings and afternoons in term-time. Also our members are involved in projects such as filling toiletry bags to go to Grampian Women’s Aid, and making tiny garments to send to Aberdeen Maternity Hospital’s Neo-natal Unit. For further information, please contact the Branch Leader, Revd Carole Fox – and remember that all are welcome at our meetings. Do come along to one of our meetings - as already mentioned, you will be most welcome.
