The shop is in part of the Saint Mary's Hall complex and sells books and cards, as well as a selection of fairly traded crafts and food. It is open on Sunday and Wednesday mornings and by arrangement at other times. If you can't find what you want, it is probably possible to order it for you.
The aim of the shop is to make available to local people books and items which cannot otherwise easily be found in the Ellon area. Many of the fairly traded items come from Traidcraft, a company that specialises in trading with small co-operatives and groups of workers who produce goods independently of large 'first world' organisations. Traidcraft, and other similar organisations, try to give the producers the opportunity of competing in world markets by sharing with them manufacturing and designing expertise and by paying a fair price for the goods produced. Help is also offered to small communities by way of schools and medical support.
